Catalyst STEM

We are a youth-led non-profit organization committed to building a #STEMpire one student at a time. Our goal is to raise the statistics, close the gap, and take a step toward empowering marginalized youth groups. Through our programs, we strive to inspire and equip the next generation of leaders to pursue careers in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. We believe that by providing access to quality education and mentorship, we can create a brighter future for all.

Our Mission

We are a POC youth-led non-profit organization aiming to build a strongly implemented and revolutionizing student-led program that is working to expand scientific knowledge and make a true impact in our global community by creating projects and prototypes from doped graphene quantum dots to the usage of aminobutyric acid in the treatment of neurological diseases to be true catalysts for change in STEM.

Executive Directors

Amir Smith

Hiii!! My name is Amir Smith, and I am a rising junior in high school! I am co-founder and executive director of CatalystSTEM! The fact that so many POC's, and members of marginalized groups education must suffer all because of who they are, is frankly just a reminder of how small minded our society is, and a reminder to keep going! My passions have aligned in chemistry, and environmental engineering for as long as I can remember, and I'd love to make and impact and educate as many POC's as possible, and I pray that I can leave a mark on a greater scale, so I'm starting here! So… join us?

Jocelyn Vargas

Hello! My name is Jocelyn Vargas and I am a rising junior at ILTexas KSHS! I am co-founder and executive director of CatalystSTEM, a non-profit organization designed to educate and encourage youth in marginalized groups to build careers in STEM related subjects. I’m very passionate about science, and I’d love to educate Mexican-American girls, such as I, in subjects such as neuroscience and chemistry. I hope to make an impact on my community, and hopefully one day on a much bigger scale.

Our I.M.P.A.C.T

I.M.P.A.C.T. = Implement Mass Prototypes and Connections Tangibly

I.M.P.A.C.T, that is our goal, in both ways literally and figurativly, our goal is to effectivly mass implement prototypes and connections between programs, chapters, and schools tangibly. Through something we can show for it, so we have something so say "We did this.", and we can. We can do this with the help of you guys that have been supporting us. You can make an impact in your community, just as we and many other students have done, through our belief in our program P.I. (prototype implementation). We believe that we can create change and revolutionize our society in computational neuroscience, environmental science, chemistry, and in so many more ways than may can imagine, so many more ways if we can get past the limits we set for ourselves, the limits our minds set on us, because there is NO limit, theres just the ones we set for ourselves, and those can be the worst of all, because they may be "right" at times but they are the ones that keep so many of us back. Because of this, and even beyond this we are striving to cultivate connectivity with fellow community organizations, to make this international. To make something of all of us, but only with your help. So, if you would like to get to know a little more about P.I. then check it out!
